On the heels of last weeks Kids Packing Post, I’m so excited to be sharing with you today the sleek new HEYS luggage pieces my hubby and I packed up our essentials in for an upcoming trip.
Mike chose the 26″ Motif Homme style which is sturdy, strong and most importantly – masculine (no polka dots for him). He wanted something that he could easily use for family vacations, as well as accommodate all of his business travel needs – and this piece certainly fits the bill. I went for the trendy and on-point Bianco Fashion Spinner luggage that I am absolutely obsessed with. Who doesn’t love anything and everything marble (hello iPhone case)? HEYS luggage is known for their high quality and durability, and this piece is no exception (read a more detailed review here).
Packing for myself always raises my blood pressure because I worry about forgetting a pair of shoes, missing that essential component to an outfit, or leaving behind my favorite bronzer. While my packing skills have definitely improved over the years (brought down the shoe count from 15 to 5) there is always room for improvement, so I’m happy to be sharing my top 5 packing tips that help ease the stress and ensure you will enjoy your trip.
- I’ve tried many ways of condensing the contents of my suitcase, but the only sure way of packing in as much as possible is by ROLLING each and every piece of clothing you want to bring. From jackets down to skivvies, rolling up each item tightly and then lining them up side by side and piled high will give you SO much extra space in your suitcase that you will wonder why you haven’t been doing this all along!
- Only bring travel-size versions of your favorite hair and skin care products. There is no need to lug around full-size bottles unless you’ll be gone for months on end. A one or two week vacation only requires small quantities, so be sure to invest in travel-size options or grab some empty travel containers for filling up. Worst case scenario is that you need to run to the store and pick up some shampoo, but this still ensures you have more room in your suitcase for other essentials (yes, shoes again)!
- DO plan your outfits in advance. If you can map out your daily looks and mix and match pieces to include in at least 2 to 3 outfits, then you will drastically cut down the amount of clothing you bring and don’t actually end up wearing.
- Most hotels have blowdryers on hand so don’t pack that cumbersome item (even if you don’t think you can live with out it) because it WILL take up valuable space and you probably won’t end up using it anyways. Having said that though, don’t forget your flatiron and/or curling iron – I’ve yet to see one in a hotel room.
- If you’re only bringing a few pairs of shoes, be sure that they are tried and tested and not brand new. Nothing ruins a day faster than schlepping around in footwear that is uncomfortable and causes blisters because then you can’t wear them anymore and you’re down a pair! As hard as this may be, try to make footwear choices that can multi-task and that will ensure comfort all day long.
Now that you’re well prepared to pack like a pro, all you’re missing is the luggage to put everything into. Well, I’m so excited to have partnered with HEYS Luggage once again to give one of my readers a Bianco 21″ Fashion Spinner Carry-on. Here’s how to enter:
- Be sure you’re following @themintedmama and @heysluggage on Instagram.
- Tag a friend in the comments of the IG post and tell me where your dream winter vacay would be.
- Bonus entry for leaving a comment here on the blog and telling me your best packing tip.
Contest runs December 13, 2016 to December 18, 2016 and is open to Canadian and US residents. Winner will be chosen at random and notified via DM.
I Always roll my clothes as small as i can. And i hoard samples of shampoo and conditioner to use while i travel.
Best packing tip for the holiday’s is never wrap your presents that are in your luggage.
I pick up the clear bags that you vacuum the air out of, this way I can pack more!
My best packing tip is to get travel size of everything you can! :)

Happy Holidays!
Love the marble luggage! My best packing tip would be ziploc bags! I keep everything in ziploc bags. Especially things that could spill onto your favourite clothes! Also, keep some extras and if you don’t finish your breakfast/lunch at the hotel you can take the rest to go. Especially if you have a whole day of walking around. IG: @HumJK

Rolling and vacuum pack outfits
Best packing Tip : Always pack a good book and have treats for the flight. LoL

Now no stress of packing ! -also rolling the clothes leaves lots od space
I start creating a list a Couple weeks in advance of what ill need to bring. I lay everything out on my bed before it goes in my suitcase and consider again if i need all these items and few things always get put back! :)
My Best Packing Tip Is Rolling Your Clothes!

I have commented on Instagram @Mamalangs5 and tagged a friend. I love your choice of Heys luggage!! I pack outfits as well!! and My tip is to tie up Your pairs of shoes with Elastic bands and line them up with your rolled clothing! :)
My packing tip is to pack light and always bring staple items that can be converted into multiple outfits when casual or formal (e.g., black dress, cardigan, jeans, etc..)
Thanks for the chance, This is awesome, packing tip would be how you fold your clothes makes a difference in how you use the space in your luggage. Roll shirts and pants instead of folding
For my last few trips ive planned my outfits based on the different activities we will be doing.
Once my outfits are chosen i lay everything out with the proper shoes, jewlery and other accessories.
Then i take pictures of my different outfits on my phone.
That way if i panic that i Maybe Didn’t bring enough i look back at my pics and feel relieved!!
I have always rolled my clothes like a Burrito that way when you leave from your trip, you can fit all the stuff you purchased into your bag! IG @official_swolemates
I have a hanging travel cosmetic bag prepack with travel size of my bathroom essentials and go to makeup ie saline solution, travel toothbrush, deodorant etc. This is so i never forget stuff.
I have 4 solid tips I do everytime☺
#1 make a list✔
#2 zip lock bags for body soap etc they might open all over your clothes and for your camera or phone by the pool💦
#3 line your shoes around the lining of the luggage sole side for more room and easy access also stuff with frágiles
#4 most imortantly pack 1 of everything you might need for 1 day of clothing in your carry on in case your luggage is lost ie. One bottom, top, underwear, shoes, bathing suit and sandals/flip flops.
I always pack a backup outfit thst Always makes me Feel Good
Rolling rolling rolling!!! This absolutley saved my life the last time i was in hawaii! I’m also such an over packer its not even funny so definitley planning outfits in advance or (events you need to dress for) is essential when trying to figure out what sort of outfits youll need!
Oh, and always keep some essentials in your carry on in case luck is not on your side and your luggage Gets lost!! Xx
