Fall is such a motivational time of year for me, as I always get a huge burst of energy to tackle a deep house clean, purge all our closets, and get back on track with health-related goals.

High up on my priority list this season is making sure our home is a safe haven of health and wellness for the entire family. Back in the spring my 5 year old son had a cough that lingered for weeks (which I brushed aside as ‘just a cough’). But two months later (after a few mis-diagnoses) he ended up coming down with pneumonia. In addition to taking two different antibiotics and a temporary stint with a puffer, the poor little guy missed a lot of school right at the end of the term and it really took a lot out of his overall well-being.

I, on the other hand, suffered with two really bad sinus infections this past year that seemed like they would never clear up. The pain was so intense that popping pills (for weeks) was the only way I could make it through the day (I’ve also never blown my nose so much in my life). TMI I know, but I wanted to make a point about how important it is to me to ensure the air in our home is safe and conducive to healthy living.

Our family is determined to have the healthiest fall/winter season yet, and thanks to Rowenta (a brand I’ve known, used, and trusted for years), we’ve added two new products into our home that are helping to keep the air we breathe safe and clean for our family.

ROWENTA AQUA PERFECT HUMIDIFIER:

The change in season is definitely upon us (and can even be felt inside our house). Not only is the air in the home really dry, but I find myself congested and constantly reaching for a tissue. Air that’s too dry can cause or irritate sinus and respiratory problems – and we don’t need any more of these.

While I can’t do anything about the changing seasons outside, inside our home we started using the Rowenta Aqua Perfect silent humidifier, and things are on the upswing. It also comes with a handy little remote that makes it easy to change the settings right from your bed or other side of the room. We actually have the humidifier set up on my husband’s side of the bed, so having the remote with me allows me to adjust the settings without having to crawl overtop of him.

While maintenance is very minimal, as with any appliance with stagnant water it does require weekly cleaning and disinfecting to ensure the steam produced is clean and free of mold or mildew. But it’s a small price to pay for a better night’s sleep and waking up refreshed (and congestion free)!

I am also so grateful for NIGHT mode. My husband is very sensitive to light and noises when he’s sleeping, so being able to switch off the lights inside the machine, dim the screen and reduce the (barely audible) sound it emits, makes it a welcome addition to our nighttime routine.

ROWENTA INTENSE PURE AIR PURIFIER:

While I do plan to share the humidifier with my kids whenever they come down with the sniffles, I permanently left the Rowenta Intense Pure Air purifier in my son’s room (suitable for surface areas up to 335 sq.ft) to ensure he’s breathing the purest air possible. The house we’re currently living in has carpet in all the bedrooms and since carpets can breed allergens, having the air purifier in his room makes me feel so much better about the quality of air he’s taking in (especially after his respiratory issues this past spring).

Blue means excellent, purple is average, and red indicates poor air quality which will kick the appliance into the highest filtration speed. Thankfully we keep alternating between excellent and average, so I’m very happy knowing that any impurities in the air are being removed before my son can breathe them in. He’s even knows how the buttons work so before bed – if I haven’t had the chance to turn it on yet – he switches it on as part of his bedtime routine!

I also find that my son is sleeping better since using the air purifier. He’s been waking up much more rested and we haven’t heard any coughing coming from his room in weeks!
