It’s officially a new year full of goals, aspirations and lots of planning for the days ahead!  While I’m not one to make new years resolutions, I am up for taking positive steps that will build my confidence to tackle new objectives and plans.

Confidence can come from many difference places and while I firmly believe that external factors play a very small role in that, being happy with the way we look on the outside can definitely be a strong motivator.

As a style and living blogger it’s my job to put the best version of myself forward for the brands and clients I work with, so when Noonoo’s Dentistry in Oakville invited me to come check out their new dental office in the Upper Middle and Joshua Creek area, I immediately said YES! Apart from regular cleanings and the occasional filling, my visits to the dentist are usually few and far between. But after meeting the oh-so-sweet Dr. Gheed Al-Khoja and learning about all the services she offers to her clients, I immediately began wondering how I could upgrade my smile :)

Don’t get me wrong, I certainly don’t feel there is ANYTHING wrong with my smile or my teeth. In fact, Dr. Gheed pointed out that my teeth were already pretty white, but sometimes a girl just wants that little extra boost of confidence like when you get your lashes or brows done and it leaves you feeling so amazing afterwards! Tooth discolouration is pretty common with many people and after years of drinking coffee, tea, red wine, cola or from smoking, your teeth can stain and darken leaving you with teeth that look older than they should.

I’ve always sort of had white-tooth envy and been in awe of anyone with bright, pearly whites! Years ago my sissy had her teeth professionally whitened and every time I saw her I wanted her teeth LOL! In an attempt to achieve the look, I’ve used my fair share of whitening toothpastes and maybe too many of the whitening-strips, yet nothing was able to achieve that really bright white I was hoping for.

From the moment I stepped into the reception area at Noonoo’s Dentistry, I knew this place was special. From the bright and colourful decor, the amazing kids entertainment area (including the best treasure chest I’ve ever seen), and a complimentary self-serve coffee and drink station – this place was unlike any dental office I’d ever been too. The staff was also so friendly and welcoming that after our first visit both the kids and I really didn’t want to leave!

My office tour started with a run-down of the state-of-the-art equipment they use (including air purifiers for a healthy and clean atmosphere), and a brief chat about the many services available for the entire family. From general dentistry, to cosmetic dentistry that includes porcelain veneers, Invisalign, Philips Zoom Whitening and more – the latter instantly caught my attention and was something I wanted to hear more about. I was excited to learn that the in-office Zoom Whitening procedure is a safe and quick treatment that produces beautiful results for an immediately whiter and brighter smile. I was advised that the shade of white achieved does vary depending on the client, and while some people may experience mild sensitivity, the staff at Noonoo’s does all they can to prevent it before and during the procedure. A Patient Post Care & Maintenance Kit would be provided as part of the package which includes gel to prevent sensitivity and a whitening touch-up treatment to maintain that perfect shade of white.

Needless to say I signed up for the procedure right away and am so happy that I did! I was very fortunate not to experience any sensitivity whatsoever, and the completely painless and relaxing hour went by so quickly thanks to televisions placed in the ceiling for optimal patient comfort (Noonoo’s has literally thought of everything)! The actual procedure started with a light polishing and preparation of the lips and gums, followed by three 15-minute sessions of alternating whitening gel applications and Philips Zoom LED light treatments. After it was finished and residue from the gel was cleaned away, I was handed a mirror to see the results.

To say I was blown away would be an understatement. Immediately I noticed that the slight yellowing I had around the lower gum line had completely disappeared, and my teeth were SO much brighter than before – it was love at first sight! I was even sent home with a take-home kit that included a syringe of Relief ACP to help manage sensitivity and Zoom take-home whitening for when a little extra brightening is needed. Overall, it was a completely positive experience that I’m still over-the-moon about!

It’s important to note that tooth sensitivity is a potential risk with all whitening procedures (thankfully I didn’t experience any), so it was advised to continue with the Relief gel for a few days post-treatment, use an anti-sensitivity toothpaste, and avoid coffee and wine for at least three days while the teeth are still porous.

It’s now been about four weeks since my whitening procedure and my teeth are just as bright and beautiful as when I left the dental office. In fact, you might just notice I’ll be showing a lot more teeth around here moving forward now that I’m feeling so much more confident with my smile!  Definitely a trend for 2019 that I plan to keep up now that I’m so in-love with my teeth :)
