FALL THEMED MASTER BATHROOM REVEAL
You better have a coffee in your hands because this is going to be a long post! I love room reveals and transformations so we took a LOT of photos of this newly designed space to share with you and I’m hoping you’ll love what we did with our Master Bathroom.
When we moved into this house I still wasn’t sure what design direction I wanted to take with each room and while I knew I wanted lots of colour – what colours they would be eluded me. So we went ahead with initially painting every room white so we could have a fresh canvas to work with once we decided what direction each room was going to take.
We originally upgraded the bathroom cabinetry with our builder, but after closing we weren’t happy with the final results and felt that this size of a bathroom (just under 300 Sq.Ft and 11’ ceilings) deserved something much nicer. So we had our kitchen designers reface the existing cabinetry (his and hers) and extend it out to the wall. We added a vanity on one side and shelving on the other.
Since it’s a shared space with my hubby, we needed to choose a colour that would work for both of us and still be fresh and bright. We decided on this really light (but pretty) Lake Placid (827) colour from Benjamin Moore and had all the walls painted except for one large, blank wall behind the toilet. This wall bothered me from the beginning as it’s so big and so boring. You can’t hang a towel rack between a toilet and a bidet (gross), we didn’t need shelving (lots of storage in this space) and other than a gallery wall I couldn’t think of any other solution to make it look like it belonged to the rest of the room. Then I thought – although it’s not a focal wall – why not wallpaper it from top to bottom and take it from boring and useless to bold and intriguing. We went back an forth on what pattern of a paper to choose and when florals and pink are eliminated from the equation (thanks to hubby), it really narrows down your options.
Thankfully I found this stunning peel and stick paper from Wallpaperie that I immediately fell in love with and hubby approved of – yay! The owner of this Etsy shop even let me customize the colour so that the pattern matched the paint and overall colour scheme of the entire room. I sent her the Benjamin Moore colour palette I was using for the room design and she customized the colours to match just perfectly. I couldn’t be happier with how this wall turned out!

For the room decor, I actually had the opportunity to collaborate with my absolute favourite home decor shop – HomeSense – to share a Fall-themed room reveal over on my Instagram channel @themintedmama. I used blue and white as my base palette, yet included gold and dusty rose for a fresh take on Fall decor. I visited probably about five to six different HomeSense stores in the GTA to find just the right pieces, and as always it didn’t disappoint. Unless it’s bolted to the wall, everything in this space is from HomeSense including the drapery, chandelier, towel rack, and vanity chair.
