LAUNDRY ROOM REVEAL WITH LG CANADA
Where do you spend the most time in your house? Besides the kitchen, the second most used room in our home is hands-down the laundry room. As a family of four we produce A LOT of dirty clothes, towels, and everything else – which means it all needs to be kept in-check, on an almost, daily basis.
I used to dread doing laundry in our townhome because it meant going down to the basement, fighting for space in the mudroom, and then lugging everything back up three flights of stairs to put it all away. Buuutttt, things have changed :)
When we moved into our new house a little over a month ago, our third floor laundry room (yay!) was one of the first spaces on my list to tackle as I knew I would be spending a lot of time in there right from the get-go. Our beautiful tile and cabinets had already been installed by the builder, but the rest was up to us. You may have followed along on my Insta Stories with our wall paint dilemma, but thanks to so much input and advice from all of you I was able to finally find the right shade of blue to perfectly match the tile (Benjamin More Constellation). Once we were in the home, we replaced the countertop and faucet, as well as installed a white subway tile backsplash and flush-mount ceiling fixture to make the space bright and inviting.
After all the construction in the laundry room was complete, it was finally time to install the pièce de résistance – our LG TWINWash™ system with LG SideKick™ pedastal washer and LG SteamDryer™! It is SO hard to contain my excitement level here because I could not wait to get my hands on these appliances and start seeing for myself what all the hype was about. You may have remembered I attended the LG Ultimate Laundry Room Event in Toronto back in November where we were introduced to the products and learned all about the amazing features from our host Coco Rocha (read it HERE). That event solidified how much I needed these appliances in our new home, and I am over the moon that they’re finally here and I get to use them on a daily basis.
As mentioned above, it’s been a little over a month now that we’ve had the appliances in our home and have been able to try out all the features for ourselves. Here’s what I love about them.
LG TWINWash System + SideKick Pedestal Washer
Efficiency is key when it comes to managing a family’s laundry situation. With the LG TWINWash system and SideKick washer, tackling heaping piles of dirty clothes just got so much easier and quicker. I keep finding myself loading up the front-load washer and thinking, “Ah, this is going to take me forever…”, UNTIL I remember that I can do a SECOND load at the same time in the pedestal washer – woot woot!
While you’re doing an extra-large load up top, the SideKick can handle delicates, hand-washables, or anything else (bulky items are not recommended). They operate as separate machines and you can easily do two completely different loads (one hot, one cold) simultaneously. It’s also not a problem to stop a load mid-cycle in either washer and within 3 seconds add an item that you may have forgotten.
Any other mama’s out there turn off the buzzer on their washer and dryer to avoid disturbing napping children? I’ve done it in every house we’ve lived in because they are just too loud. But with the TWINWash system and SteamDryer, I actually enjoy the pleasant little tune it plays to alert you that your laundry is complete – it makes going to get my clean laundry kind of fun actually.
The most significant benefit of the LG SteamDryer is that it dries a lot of clothes at once – and I mean A LOT of clothes. If I’m doing two loads of laundry in the washers, I’ll throw all the wet clothes together in the dryer and it successfully dries everything every time. It’s able to determine the moisture level during the cycle and then automatically adjust drying time to ensure accurate drying.
We’ve also used the SteamSanitary™ cycle on more than one occasion to freshen up the many, many stuffies we collect in our house. It sanitizes delicate, non-washable items, kills bacteria, and removes odours – perfect for those stuffed toys that are actually dirtier than you may think!.
I also have to mention I’m a huge fan of the SteamFresh™ cycle. When you need properly pressed clothes fast and don’t have time to iron – throw up to five garments in the dryer and in 20 minutes you can refresh and drastically reduce wrinkles. This works like a charm when you forget to remove your work pants from the pile of clean clothes the day before and you’re trying to get everyone ready for school, have to make lunches, but still need those pants steamed and ready to wear. Throw them in on the SteamFresh™ cycle and they’re ready when you are!
We added a pedestal storage drawer underneath our dryer to bring the height in line with the washers. It’s the perfect place to store your detergent, dryer sheets, and any other laundry related products.
The LG TWINWash system and LG SteamDryer have revolutionized how we do laundry. I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about dirty clothes – in like ever! Another handy feature of our machines that I don’t know how I’ve ever lived without is the LG SmartThinQ® app. By simply connecting the appliances to the app you’re able to download and install new wash programs that are specific to your individual needs, as well as use the Smart Diagnostics feature of the app allowing you to solve minor issues before they become even bigger ones – how smart is that?! I may sound crazy, but laundry days have quickly become my favourite and now you know why!
