As some of you may or may not know, we are currently building a new home that is set for move-in late January 2019. It’s been a long time coming (insert: significant and frustrating builder delays), BUT this should be our final closing date which means that it’s high-time to get a move on some important home decisions that we’ve been pushing aside.

One of those decisions is choosing appliances for our new kitchen. So when LG Canada invited me to an event they were hosting in Toronto with Celebrity chef Chuck Hughes and TV personality Rick Campanelli, I couldn’t have been more excited. Not only was I going to be able to participate in an interactive cooking show with these amazing dads (and learn a trick or two), but I would have the opportunity to learn more about LG Canada’s latest appliance innovations – the LG QuadWash® and TrueSteam® Dishwasher and the LG InstaView™ Door-In-Door® Refrigerator – ultimately narrowing down some big decisions coming down the pipe.

The event was an intimate group setting with five other lovely content creators and our two celebrity hosts. I loved how relaxed both Chuck and Rick made everyone feel right from the get-go and nothing was taken too seriously – except for how much fun we were going to have, of course!

The afternoon began with an engaging (and hilarious) introduction by our hosts, and then they each delved straight into their topics for the day. Rick wasted no time in explaining and demonstrating all about the heroes of the day – the LG appliances – while Chuck shared a couple of his simple and delicious recipes that included some “dad-hacks” to make them totally doable any night of the week!

The Door-in-Door® allows you to easily access frequently used items without opening the entire fridge, an easy “knock twice, see inside” feature lets you see what’s on hand without even opening the fridge, and a convenient extra drawer puts snacks and drinks at just the right level for the kiddos.

Having these fantastic features explained is one thing, but being able to touch and try them for myself certainly makes a world of difference. I can already see us using these appliances in our new kitchen and how my kids would be obsessed with knocking on the fridge day-in and day-out! (Confession: I think I would be too) And since I hate pre-washing my dishes, I know the TrueSteam® technology in the dishwasher would make my life just that much easier… and who couldn’t use a little help in the kitchen? Officially moving the LG QuadWash® and TrueSteam®Dishwasher and LG InstaView™ Door-in-Door® Refrigerator right to the top of my new home wish-list, and secretly hoping my hubby is on board because I can already see them there!

One last highlight I wanted to share from the #LGKitchen event is this DELICIOUS recipe Chef Chuck Hughes created for us, “Local Strawberry Fluff”. Whip it up in 10 minutes and enjoy all summer long!

‘Local Strawberry Fluff’ By Chef Chuck Hughes
2 egg whites
1 cup sugar
2 cups strawberries, hulled and crushed
Sugar cookies, crumbled
Stemless wine glass or glass fruit nappe
Cut fresh strawberries for garnish

Place egg whites, sugar and hulled and crushed strawberries in a stand mixer. Mix on medium-high speed for about 5 minutes, until the mixture is fully and smooth. In a stemless wine glass, layer crumbled sugar cookies, fresh berries, fluff, repeat.
