We’ve been in such an in-between stage lately that baby girl has been (dare I say) ‘shoeless’, for more than a few weeks now. This is thanks in part to growing out of all our current faves, her feet being still too small for any of her other shoes, and the fact that anything that goes on her feet (and easily comes off) does just that – comes off the instant it gets put on! But things are about to change.
Sadly, she grew out of her first pair of Freshly Picked moccasins a few months ago and I literally didn’t know what we were going to do. She wore her Newborn Heirloom Cream and Gold pair absolutely everywhere because they fit so snugly to her tiny little feet (never falling off) and the gold polka dot print matched just about everything. Read our review here.
Seriously, if you are looking for a colour that will complement any piece of clothing, metallic is your go-to! So, when choosing her next pair I knew that we had to go with another metallic option, hands-down. Her first shoe was in newborn Size 0, and since she’s been out of them for a couple months now I wanted to choose a size that would give her a bit of room to grow into and prolong their wear. At nearly 10mths old, she still has very petite feet (like mama), so we decided on Size 2 and I have to say this was the right choice. Although they do stay on her feet and are secure around the ankle, we have plenty of room for growth and they are sure to last us for a while.
Like I said, metallic is our go-to. So we chose the soft-sole Merci shoe for it’s edgy snake-skin print and feminine platinum charm. Depending on the light, these moccasins can take on either a silver or gold hue, which is going to allow them to work with pretty much anything baby is wearing, so definitely a great choice. The base colour is a light cream which gives them a soft and girly feel which we love.
The best part about Freshly Picked moccasins is that they actually stay on your babies feet. We have been through so many shoes that are literally a waste of time to put on because they don’t last five minutes before they’ve fallen off again. The elastic opening stretches to allow your baby’s foot inside, and then it comfortably hugs their ankle to keep it securely in place. Trust me, they are sure to stay on while your little one plays, crawls and even starts to walk.
They are also made of leather which makes them (first and foremost) comfortable on the feet, and durable for an active little one. We weren’t walking with our first pair, but Gemma is certainly going to take her new pair of Merci’s on a serious test run in the next few weeks as she has already started walking around the coffee table (holding on), but any day she’s about to let go and then she’s off!
While this style is going to be our everyday/everywhere pair, it’s also great to have a few other options for fun and special occasions. And with a major sale starting TODAY guys, now is the time to pick up more than one pair. At 10:00am MST (12:00pm here in Toronto) ALL moccasins are 25% off, plus free shipping on orders over $50! You need to hop over to Freshly Picked’s website right now and start loading your cart! A few favorites on my wishlist that I hope to score in the sale are Bubblegum Licorice, Salt Water Taffy, Electric Palm, and Sweet Legend. Wait, who am I kidding – I want them all!
