SKINCARE FOR MAMAS
One Love Organics Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum
One Love Organics Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo Powder
About four years ago I watched a well-know documentary that changed my perspective on a healthy lifestyle. Having suffered with stomach issues for years, I was immediately convinced that a vegan lifestyle was something I needed to try if I was going to improve or eleviate the sometimes debilitating effects of food-related illness that was taking over my life. I will leave this discussion in more detail for another post – but to sum up the point I’m trying to make here – I was vegan for just over a year (which btw improved my health dramatically), and in addition my husband and I really started to make wiser, healthier choices in the water we drank, the quality of food we ate, and the products we put on our body.
Like any girl, I love trying new products, from skincare to haircare and everything in between. Since my days as a vegan, I try to make a conscious effort to choose natural and organic beauty products for myself and my family, avoiding the long-term effects of harmful chemicals on my body. (Please note I said “try” – I still use some products that definitely are not natural – but overall the majority are)
Having just had a baby a month ago, I was in need of a new skincare regime that would help restore my skin to its pre-baby conditions – naturally. Well-known for their curated collection of all-natural and luxury beauty products, I reached out to Eco Diva to help me select a few products that I could use post-baby, and I am so happy with the selections we made.
I wish I had been using the Zoe Organics lineup of Belly Oil and Belly Butter while I was pregnant, but I’ve been using them daily now for the past four weeks post-partum to restore elasticity to my tummy area. Although I didn’t suffer from any stretch marks (which this product also aids ins), I’m really happy with the firm, smooth appearance of the skin. It’s also very hydrating without being greasy, so common itchiness is reduced and I don’t have to worry about my clothes getting oil-stained after application.
We love to do mini-getaway’s throughout the year and Zoe Organics Bath Wash is perfect for stashing in a travel cosmetic bag and using on the whole family. Totally gentle and pure, it’s great for baby too, so you don’t have to use harsh and drying hotel soaps on their delicate skin. And did I mention it smells like lemon meringue pie?? Heavenly!
I’ve always found that oils moisturize my skin better than any lotion or cream, as it absorbs quicker and the effects last longer. From the first spritz of One Love Organics Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum, I was hooked! The decadent floral scent immediately caught my nose, followed by the way my skin felt after applying the oil spray on my arms and legs. It was ultra-light, absorbed almost instantly, and left my skin glowing and moisturized, but not greasy. Again, I love the fact that I can apply the oil and then get dressed right away without having to wait for the oil to dry. A usual dry-spot culprit is the thick skin around my elbows, and I have to say I have never had softer elbows since using this product – bonus!
The last product I tried out was the One Love Organics Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo Powder. With very little time to get ready in the morning these days, I have to say that I wash my hair less than I would like to admit. I try to get one good blow-dry in every 3 days, so in between I’ve been using this dry shampoo to lighten up my roots and give it a freshly-blown appearance. I’ve been sprinkling in a small amount just underneath my center part and then combing through or quickly running the blowdryer through it with a round brush. It’s been a lifesaver on hectic mornings and I love how I don’t have to worry about it leaving white marks along my roots.
Overall, I love each and every one of these products I’ve tried and they have become a permanent staple in my postpartum skincare regime. I can also feel confident that they are healthy and safe, and ultimately contribute to myself and my family’s overall well-being.
