Channeling my inner Jane Seymour on the steps of the Grand Hotel Michigan today. Last week our family had the opportunity to visit this iconic hotel on Mackinac Island and enjoy an elaborate Grand Buffet Luncheon in their stunning dining room. This wasn’t the first time we visited the property – in fact we’ve been coming to this island every summer since we were kids and making a stop at the Grand was always a highlight of our visit.

This is one of those hotels that takes your breath away, and as you approach it by horse and buggy (no cars on Mackinac Island), the sheer splendour of the sprawling gardens and grandeur of the famous front porch is nothing short of spectacular!

Today’s outfit was of course inspired by the Grand, and I would be lying if I said a little forethought didn’t go into planning this look for our day trip to the island. I’m obsessed with this dress and it’s open criss-cross back (not showing), as it’s the perfect lightweight summer dress for all occasions. We couldn’t have planned the soft warm breeze billowing up the staircase any better as we shot this, and it’s the perfect easy breezy look (literally) to usher in summer!
