One Spa at Finest Playa Mujeres
If you read last week’s post all about our experience at Finest Playa Mujeres in Cancun, Mexico, then you know that our vacation experience thanks to Expedia.ca exceeded all of our expectations and then some. In my review I mentioned that the resort has a Spa, but didn’t go into any detail about what it was all about – and for good reason. Today’s post is dedicated to everything about the most amazing Spa experience at One Spa, and why it should be on your to-do list.
As I talked about in my hotel review, when we checked into the resort we were upgraded to Excellence Club which included many perks and amenities exclusive to Excellence Club guests. And one of those perks was a complimentary 50-minute Hydrotherapy session per couple at One Spa, the resort’s on-site full service Spa. We booked our session for our third day at the property and couldn’t wait to see what it was all about.
On the day of our service we were greeted by our therapist Ingrid who instructed us to change into our swimmers and then gave us a full run down about what our One Spa Signature Service was all about. Basically it is a circuit of hot and cold pools, a dry sauna, steam room, showers and more that we would rotate through and experience one at a time. Adapted from the tradition of ancient bath houses, the journey is about experiencing the many benefits of aqua therapy, eliminating toxins, improving skin tone, and promoting circulation. I loved the reflexology zone where you walk over hundreds of smooth pebbles that massage your feet as you make your way around a few times. The ice exfoliating station was also pretty cool where my husband and I massaged each other’s back with crushed ice before taking a dip in the hot plunge pool (much harder to do than you would think). The main pool consisted of water pressure stations that targeted different areas of the body to massage such as the back, shoulders or whole body. The session ended with a shoulder massage by Ingrid and time to unwind and just be still in the beautiful relaxation room. This was such a unique experience that I wish we had gone back and done it again. It was refreshing, exhilarating, yet totally relaxing at the same time – a definite must-do when you’re staying at the resort.
We loved our day at the Spa so much that we decided to go back later in the week for a Couples Massage, because no beach vacation is complete without a massage. We haven’t had a couples massage since we were on our honeymoon (nearly 13 years ago), so this was a treat we were really looking forward to. As we waited for our session to begin, we were given heated neck pillows that helped to start the relaxation process even before our massages began (more Spa’s at home need to do this while you wait). Our therapists were the sweetest ladies who guided us through our nurturing therapy and completely had us relaxed from the minute we walked into the room. Essential oils, candles and aromatherapy were so calming, and of course the magical hands of our therapists gave us such a great experience that we were fully rejuvenated afterwards. When the massage was finished, they bring you to a relaxation room with water beds or swaying beds (your choice) to lay on, have a refreshing drink and just unwind. This was the perfect end to the perfect couples massage.
If everything I told you about Finest Playa Mujeres in last week’s post wasn’t enough to convince you that you must visit this resort, then hopefully our experience at One Spa has convinced you otherwise. The resort really has it all and is the ultimate destination for families and couples alike looking for that luxury all-inclusive experience that goes above and beyond anything you can imagine.
