THE PALM BEACHES
As the temperatures began to drop, our family escaped for an early winter break to Florida. After a short stop in Orlando to visit Disney (see last week’s post), we continued south to The Palm Beaches for a week of sunshine, sand and fun. Having been to various parts of Florida in the past, this was our first visit to The Palm Beaches and it could definitely be summed up by the word “relaxation”. I had big plans for the week, but after we arrived, all agenda’s and itineraries went out the window as total calm and relaxation set in, and I became much too lazy to do anything but lay on the beach, sip Mojito’s, and work on my tan.
We stayed at the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Resort and Spa and everything from our beachfront suite to the infinity pool overlooking the ocean, made our stay here total perfection. Nothing starts a vacation off right than a trip to the spa, so I kicked off our stay by paying a visit to the resorts award-winning SiSpa (named one of Conde Nast Traveler’s Top 100 U.S. Resort Spas), and I have to say it was the ideal way to get into vacation mode. Not only did I get to enjoy a little alone time away from the kids lounging on a heated stone bed and sipping antioxidant water, but I was kindly treated to a 50-minute SiSpa Signature Massage that melted away all my stress and tension. My therapist Ali began the treatment by laying a warm heat compress on my back which instantly calmed and relaxed. The massage was nothing short of perfection, and ending it off with another warm compress on my eyes and neck was spot on!
In planning our trip to South Florida I researched attractions and things to do for the whole family with Discover The Palm Beaches Florida. They have a wealth of information on their site from finding the perfect hotel, the best beaches and top dining. While I had every intention to pay a visit to the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, visit The Palm Beach Zoo and see the turtles at John D Macarthur Beach State Park, our private beach on Singer Island called my name every day and I just couldn’t pull myself away. The next time we visit we’ll be sure to check out more of the surrounding area and the attractions that are offered. If you’re planning a trip to The Palm Beaches and are looking for things to do, make sure to check out their site for all the up-to-date info and event information.
One of the very few days we ventured off our resort property was to go for brunch at the iconic The Breakers Palm Beach. As we drove up the grand driveway toward the Italian-renaissance designed building, we were left breathless, and it didn’t stop here. Once inside, every inch of the hotel was opulent and spectacular. We had the most delicious brunch in The Circle and I’m still dreaming of the perfect eggs-benny, fresh-pressed green juice, and coconut chia pudding. We spent a few hours after brunch exploring the resort and taking in all its beauty. This spot is now a must-stay on my hotels-to-try list that and I hope the next we visit, it’s to stay overnight.
Although unfortunately we did very little shopping on this trip (thanks to our wonderful Canadian dollar) we did manage to squeeze in a little window shopping on beautiful Worth Avenue. All the top brands lined this picturesque street complete with beautiful architecture, lush greenery and even a woman walking her pot-belly pig – not a sight you see every day.
Overall, our family had a wonderful vacation in The Palm Beaches. The perfect combo of beautiful beaches, picturesque pools and historic sights already has us itching to plan our return and enjoy this little piece of paradise all over again.
