As the first day of Spring quickly approaches – 18 days to be exact (but who’s counting) – all I can think about are soft hands, glowing skin and luscious hair that the warm weather brings. I get extremely dry hands in the Winter (cracked, irritated and tight), as well as dry, brittle hair that suffers so much damage during those cold Winter months that I sometimes wonder if it will ever repair itself.

My problem with hair breakage in Winter is all thanks to over-processing. While I don’t wash and dry my hair everyday (dry shampoo is seriously a mom’s best friend), I do style my colour treated hair daily with either a curling wand or flat iron. And when day three rolls around and it’s time for a wash and dry, my blow dryer (on the highest heat setting of course) and round brush always come out to play. This regime is not something I’m willing to compromise on because looking and feeling good go hand in hand, and just knowing I’m “put together” makes a huge difference on the outlook for the day (even if I don’t leave the house).

So to counteract my non-negotiable beauty routine, I picked up the Matrix R.A.W Recover collection from Trade Secrets to help revive my winter hair and bring it back to life just in time for Spring. Now onto my favorite part of this series! The Re-Hab Clay Mask with honeycomb and kaolin clay is SUCH a treat for the driest, most brittle and stressed out winter hair. I’ll swap out the conditioner once a week for this mask as a little treat from me to my hair. The consistency of the mask is thick, dense and reminiscent of a facial mask. In fact I almost want to put it on my face – but maybe not such a good idea. I love how I can scoop out a handful and the dense consistency actually stays in my hand and can be smoothed out evenly from root to tip without dissolving in water. It feels so luxurious and I can really feel my hair absorbing all the goodness one strand at a time!
